About Love Washington DC
An independent editorial guide to the District of Columbia — the free, the planned, and the quietly local. Not affiliated with any government body.
Who we are
The Love Washington DC Editors are a small team of writers and editors who plan trips to Washington, D.C. the way a careful visitor would: on foot along the Mall, by Metro between neighborhoods, and with a clear eye on what is free, what needs a timed pass, and what is worth the splurge. We publish under one editorial voice so every guide carries the same standards and the same accountability.
We are independent. We are not affiliated with the Smithsonian, the National Park Service, Destination DC, or any government body — and we say so plainly wherever a guide touches official ticketing or access.
How we research
- We walk the routes, ride the lines, and time the visits we describe.
- For anything time-sensitive — opening hours, timed passes, fares, closures — we point to the official source and tell you to confirm it close to your travel dates.
- We keep big-picture advice (routes, neighborhoods, pacing) stable, and revisit volatile details on a regular review cycle.
- We don't invent prices. Where a number changes often, we describe how it works rather than quote a figure that will date.
How we keep guides current
Every guide shows when it was last updated. Our full approach to sourcing, corrections and updates lives in our editorial policy, and the official references behind the guides are gathered on our sources page. Spotted something that's changed? Tell us — we read every note.
